Teaching assistant schedule Madrid

So now you have been sent to a school in Madrid and you are a little bit lost and overwhelmed about what next year will be like. In this post, you’ll learn what a school schedule in Madrid looks like and what your working hours will be.

Depending on the school, there are two different types of school schedules in Madrid: Jornada Continua and Jornada Partida.

Jornada partida

The school has a break around noon and the students go back to class after lunch. If you were allocated in Madrid city center, most likely you’ll have jornada partida. The school schedule is typically like this:

Activity Time
The first class of the day 09:00 to 10:30
Recess 10:30 to 11:00
Back to class 11:00 to 12:30
Lunch 12:30 to 02:30 p.m.
Class in the afternoon 02:30 p.m. to 04:00 p.m.

Jornada continua

The school schedule in Madrid starts early in the morning, usually around 9 and it finishes at 14:00. The main difference compared to the jornada partida schedule is that you won’t have class in the afternoon. Teachers and auxiliares go home for lunch but there’s also the option to stay in the school for lunch served in the cafeteria, all you have to do is tell the principle that you would be interested. This option might be convenient for you if you are teaching any private lessons after school.

Most schools in the outskirts of Madrid are Jornada continua anyway if you want to check if yours is, you can go to this web and look for your school. Under Información complementaria you’ll find:
