Watching Spanish movies on Netflix is a great and easy way to improve your Spanish. It doesn’t feel like you are doing work and it’s entertaining. In addition, it’s also a good idea to learn more about Spanish culture.
If you are looking to improve your Spanish, watching Spanish movies might work, however, it would be better to watch Spanish TV shows. You can benefit from repetition and after a few episodes, the voices start sounding familiar, which boosts comprehension.
In this post I’ll share some of the best Spanish movies that are available on Netflix in 2023. I’ll classify them by genres. Here is the list:

A group of OCD patients are forced to interact with each other while waiting for the doctor to show up to their appointment.
2. Kiki
This zany story takes place in Madrid. Five intertwined stories that show us some couples with their fetishes in a humorous way. If you watched Toc Toc, you’ll be familiar with some of the actors.
3. La Llamada – Holy Camp!
This award-winning Spanish movie shows the story of two rebellious teens that experience a life-changing event at a camp run by nuns.
4. Perfectos Desconocidos – Perfect Strangers
Seven friends agree on leaving their phones on the dinner table. They’ll read any incoming messages they’ll receive. Could this turn out to be a good idea?
Romantic
5. Palmeras en la nieve – Palm Trees in the Snow
A young Spanish woman embarks on a journey that takes her back to Africa where she’ll discover the secrets of her family.
Thriller
6. Hogar – The Occupant
This is one of the most disturbing Spanish movies I’ve recently seen on Netflix. It’s the story about a successful executive who’s been unemployed for almost a year and can no longer afford his family’s lifestyle. If you like subtle tension and brain games, you’ll enjoy this movie.
7. Tarde para la ira – The Fury of a Patient Man
If you like thrillers, try this award-winning Spanish movie. I loved the acting and the storyline.
8. El Bar – The Bar
Two mysterious deaths take place in a bar in Madrid. The paranoia will force the terrified regulars to turn on each other. This Spanish movie is beautifully written and it has an amazing script.
9. Celda 211
There’s a riot in prison that unfortunately caught a young guard in the revolt. He’ll try to pose as a prisoner in a desperate attempt to survive.
Drama
10. Volver
A fantastic story about family relationships. This Spanish movie is set on the director’s home turf, La Mancha. It’s one of his most personal works.
11. Mujeres al Borde de un Ataque de Nervios – Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
This dramedy is directed by the Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar. There are several intertwined stories with some elements of absurdity. Mujeres al Borde de un Ataque de Nervios is one of my favorite Spanish movies by this director.
